View Full Version : SLS Delete - Pressure concern

First I have to say that I read and followed mojocoggo's and Edwin's write-ups which were great. Even confirmed the pressure line re-routing back to the reservoir.
Now I have to say that just prior to doing this the car had started to leak power steering fluid. I figured SLS delete first, since I had the parts and fix the leak afterwards.
SLS delete complete; shocks installed and replaced leaky low pressure hose as well as the one that dead-ends below the radiator or thereabouts and pressure line re-routed.
So the problem is that the after running the car a bit the high-pressure hose is now blown and I am going to change it tomorrow (Friday)... ok sh!t happens. My concern is that my pressure may be high and that I may be on the verge of blowing the next link, the pump. Fellas, tell me it ain't true and that it's just a leaky old hose that needed replaced anyways.
Yo and thanks,
Rod

The high pressure line for the power steering is blown? Bypassing the SLS shouldn't effect the power steering pressures unless you did something seriously wrong.

Your high pressure hose was likely leaking all along. Because you fixed the leaks in the other hoses, the added pressure is now making more come out the high pressure one. Replace it, and you'll be fine.

Ok of course I'm cool with that and thanks.
Wondering, what is the purpose of the adjustment made at the the rear of the car, to the fluid control linkage? I saw it on both write-ups and kinda don't see the point, so what I'm asking is; what does the adjustment do and is it mandatory? Can not doing the adjustment cause the system to go get an erroneous signal causing an over pressure?

Replaced the pressure hose... no issues except the pump has a slight whine to it. Been doing it for days... it's gotta be bled by now... hope the pump isn't gonna fail.

And be sure the oil level is correct

Thanks Edwin... plenty of oil. If the pump goes I'll resurrect the thread... thanks for all the help fellas... it lives again :)
