Hi everyone,

I am looking to purchase some s52 cams for my 328i and I found a guy on craigslist who is looking to sell his. I asked him for pictures, and he sent me these. Are they the right cams for the upgrade (s52)? Also, what do you think about their condition? Should I get them machined? These will be going in my 98 328i

Its not that I dont trust him, I just want to make sure its going to fit correctly, and I'm not missing something.

Thanks

Im pretty sure the only way to truly tell s50/s52 cams from m52 cams is to measure the lobes. Intake = .400, Exhaust =.390.

Get a picture of a lobe profile, you can tell by looking at the tip of the lobe. The S52 cams have more duration, and the M52 cams have less and look more "pointed" than the S52 cams

You can also tell by several other methods, one of which I think is the positioning of 2 holes on the square end of the cam

I used this thread to tell if a set of cams over the internet were S52 before I bought them

They appear to be, but I would measure them as mentioned.
