hey guys, I'd like to let you guys know that I've finally joined the club, I started a thread before about what to look for in these cars before making a purchase, well after looking at several of them i finally bought a 98 328i sedan, 5spd. but i had a couple questions for you guys.
first off, the left brake light intermittently doesnt work. the bulbs been replaced. the connections look okay. is there anywhere where the harness to it is susceptible to wear?
and secondly, is there any way to get rid of the glove box sag? you know when it closes and the right side is still more open than the left side?
any input is greatly appreciated

Check the trunk lid wiring for fraying. Glove box sag has never been fixed.

It could be that the left brake light assembly is corroded. I had to replace my passenger (right) light assembly awhile back. Some people used 2 screws to fix the glovebox sag but I haven't done it yet. Mine is slightly off center.

glove box sag can be fixed with a couple well placed screws. do a google search.

Glovebox sags because the glue holding the trim deteriorates. Drill holes on either side of the catch a couple centimeters to each side and insert screws. Problem should be fixed.

Wow, you completely sucked something out of your thumb right there.
Okay that sounded rude.
Seriously, people post complete nonsense on the internet and people read it and all pass it on.
There is no glue holding down any trim.
The ONLY reason the glovebox lid sags, is because the plastic trim that hold the vents, and holds the locking mechanism, comes away from the 'box, because the 2 clips that hold these together break.
Usually by some owner or mechanic, that removed the vent trim as a separate piece, while the glovebox + vents need to be taken out as a whole(!)
Trying to remove the vent piece from the glovebox, can only be done with the whole thing removed, otherwise these clips will always break.
The only way to fix the glovebox, without using extra screws or anything or other bodge job to fix it, is simply buy a new vent trim piece, install it, and you're done.

Hey man, my bad. I understand the frustration at incorrect info, and I'll admit I'm going on assumption there. The only reason I say epoxy is because I've seen it fail on more door panels and than I can count. I've has my glovebox and vents off a few times

MParallel is correct, mine sagged and I tried the 2 screw fix and it still sags. Turns out I drilled right where one of those hooks are so without a new trim piece I just have to live with it.

Even though I quoted you, it wasn't a personal thing. Don't worry about it.
