My car is (97 M3 coupe) being totaled by Insurance.

It was in very good condition (<110 K miles) vader seats and manual transmission.
I was expecting a price close to NADA website. But it is no where close to that.
I took some of the advice here in this forum instead of settling right away.

I did some research online (2-3 hours) and sent all the details to the adjuster. She increased the price by only $150.
Now she tells me next option for me is to get my own appraiser and then he will discuss with insurance company appraiser ...

I am not sure whether it is worth the effort. I need to pay for my appraiser and i don't know how long this will go on. It is already 18 days since the accident.

Has any body done this before :help? What is your take on this?

Thanks

What are they offering and how badly is it damaged? Pics will help. I did a Kelly Blue Book with a midwest location, it came back with a range of $6700-$7900 for private party and $5200-$6300 for trade in.

What insurance co? Is it yours, or someone's who hit you. If it is not yours, your co should help you defend it.

Unfortunately, several low premium companies make their money on this end rather than on the premium side. Especially where there is no personal injury that makes it worthwhile to get an attorney. They know you need to get another car and the cost of an attorney is about the price of the amount in dispute.

You can file a complaint with your states insurance commission that authorizes companies to do business in your state. But results vary by state and often just show up as a statistic if someone bothers to search for a company complaint ratio.
