View Full Version : Dyno Dynamics dynos, why no shootout mode?

I only see it from US based shops having one, this is a free feature and it locks the correction factors. But when I see a DD graph that has no shootout I could be looking at anything, any correction factor the dyno owner has wanted to put in,.
Why is this ? Over here in the UK , itīs absolutely unknown to even dare post DD graphs without shootout mode as their validity is NONE.

the US is full of large penis dyno graphs. We're not concerned with real power.
hence, the drama and "hate" : lololling

Since many dynos show different #s, I see dynos as just a tuning tool. The dyno operator can always manipulate corrections to make the customer happy, and I believe the shootout mode on a DD dyno will causing heart attacks world wide. My friend has a honda tuning shop, he never uses the shootout mode since it puts out ridiculously low numbers.

Not liars,
just boasty.
...a fish "this big"...
Capitalism gives us the tools and desire
to have everything better than the next door neighbor's.
What a horrid, selfish curse.
It makes for the MagikJet numbers.

Most dyno operators will tell you that the Dyno Dynamics Dyno is considered a heartbreaker of a dyno. It's a load bearing not an inertia dyno, and if you are posting your dyno number from a dyno dynamics dyno for braggin rights.. well that's about as smart as taking a BMW to a dragstrip....
What dyno dynamics operators will also tell you is that it's best used as a tuning tool, and especially with aftermarket ECU's such as MoTeC, a load bearing dyno can be much easier to tune the engine right at all different loads and throttle positions.

When I buy a dyno it will be a dyno dynamics, just to break everyones heart! No maybe not just that, they have a twin retarder option for the big boys and are really nice people to begin with. They came down with a dyno for us to test butand I didn't have a car worth putting on it at the time. Again, Chris and the folks there are top notch.

Ironically enough though I also see the opposite - euro guys often post DD dyno's that are "bhp" - based on who the hell knows what.

Same
In fact a user building supercharger kits did that initially until everyone requested RWHP figures... which were obviously much lower.

In shootout mode that correction factor is not adjustable anyway. So two similar cars with the same whp would also show the same flywheel power. Flywheel is more common over here. Why I donīt know.

I dyno on a DynoDynamics - does this make me less of a man?

Yes
Thanks for the confirmation. I obviously will need to add extra boost to subsidize my loss of manliness.

You can try that but the issue is that the dyno is dynamic. Its a dynamic dyno. The target is always moving. It takes superior aim and calculation - it knows when you're trying to "over do it" on man-factor. Not enough is just as bad as too much.
