ok so I just got the crazy idea again of boosting my car instead of just supercharging it..
I need help putting a full turbo system together, I may have an idea but not really skilled at boosting.
I will be doing this on a E36 M3 chassis for now its running and will continue using it while building the motor and turbo set up.
I will be using a M52b28 motor with about 100k on it.
I just need help to point me in the right direction, I have looked over a lot of peoples threads and such.
I want roughly around 500-650whp pump, race, meth etc
I was thinking of going top mount, but have only seen one manufactor that makes a top mount which is OBX every one else's is custom. Is OBX manifold safe to handle 18-20 PSI-500-650whp?
also was thinking of going either a T3 gt35R turbo or T4 GT40R..
I still have no idea about the rest of the parts such as Intercooler sizing, BOV, Wastegate, ETC...
Thanks and hope some one can help me start building this beast.

The only question I see above is
"Is OBX manifold safe to handle 18-20 PSI-500-650whp?"
YES,
that design was stolen (copied) from a proven fabricator (666 Fabrications)
and has handled those levels and above (upwards of 1000whp in drag strip situations).

building the engine? What exactly are you doing to it since that will make a difference in power capabilities.
There are a few running an OBX manifold between 15 and 25 psi. No issues that I have heard of.
If you want over 550 you are going to be hard pressed to make a GT35r in T3 form do that on pump gas, race gas you have a chance, but not at 18-20 psi. A GT40r on the other had will easily do over 550whp on pump gas. All really depends on what your engine "build" consists of

Thanks, well so top mount it is, I was planning on copper oring job, wiseco pistons, not sure on the rods, maybe bumping the 2.8 to a 3.0 with s50 crank, fully done head, maybe cams or regrind at elgin cams, full ARP fasteners. any recomendations on what to use for motor build?

If I had to build my motor over again, I would go with an 87.5mm bore with an s52 crank and copper orings in the figure 8 style. The extra .2 liters gives a nice boost in torque and has been proven successful on many high hp builds.
What are your goals for the bulid besides the HP number. Are you drag racing, street racing, or road racing? You can reach 600 WHP on pump many different ways....larger frame turbo with a slow onset of torque, or one of the newer garret gtx's or HTA's for super quick spool...
I would never use an OBX....but thats just me...
Here is what I would use:
Bored block to 87.5 MM
s52 crank
CP or Weisco Pistons
Arrow Rods
Stock HG
Copper Oring FIgure 8 Style
ARP Mains and Head Studs
Supertech Valve Spings
Stock everything else in the head
Maybe some cams (at least s52 cams)

Would you suggest the Steed Speed, or something different?

I like the steed but I would like to run a twin scroll bottom mount that dosent need an oil sump pump.

street and road racing, Yes I want to start ordering at least the basic parts already, so you wouldn't recommend any top mount? and the steed manifold is the same one ran on the HPF cars right?

I didnt say I wouldnt run any top mount. Just not the OBX.
If you have the money, contact OTIS on the forums here. He will fab you up a sick top mount mani and down pipe. His stuff has been proven to stand the abuse of some very high HP cars.
The steed speed is nice and yes it is run on the HPF cars. I just had to run an oil scavange pump to keep the oil draining properly with the steed speed.
What turbo are you going to be running?

OP,
are you stuck on TOP MOUNT?
Why not bottom mount?
SPA makes a GREAT manifold that is perfect for 500+ whp,
is track proven
and very reasonably priced.
IN fact,
just hit up TRM for their kit.
It's probably still on sale and better for someone who is, as you say,
"not really skilled at boosting."
Allow TheRM to fabricate all the necessary down pipes, charge pipes, brackets, FMIC mounts, etc.
Make it easy on yourself. A bolt on kit at a reasonable price that will make you want to wear diapers while driving. Berd does. Tax time is here. Spend your money WISELY.

The only problem with TRM kits are their included turbo's. AFAIK the SPA7000 turbo from their stage 2 kit is obsolete. In the short time i have been here i have seen people swap out their SPA turbo's for higher end GT35r's and Precision billet wheel turbos. Much better spool, and better overall power.
I know they are working on an OBDII solution, and they may make a stage 3 kit that isnt listed on the site. Call them and get more information. They are really nice guys and are extremely helpful.

A problem w/ TRM turbo kits... that was good.
OBDII is done.
I'm sure they have a fine turbo and an upgrade option. :)

We are delivering two GT35R based kits as we speak. (one install to be finished today, one full 35R kit including downpipe and exhaust kit shipping Monday.) One is OBD1, the other OBD2. We offer Garrett and Tial turbochargers, so if a GTX or a HTA is your fancy, we can accommodate.
Our site is lagging a little. We are hoping to have a new and completely updated site in the not too distant future. If you have a question on what we can/will offer, just give us a call or shoot us an email.
Thanks!

If your looking for a SPA and GT35r setup shoot me an email. I am moving up to a larger turbo and will be selling off my TRM based setup. I also have a FS thread if you check my posted threads
