Hey guys,

I'm looking for a coupling like this for my twin turbo e34 project:

http://thumbs4.ebaystatic.com/m/mh8zmDZY10lFS0-ngStGEaA/140.jpg

I've noticed HPF use them on their TT kit and I found this one randomly on chinabay (but it's the wrong size), but that's it.

I should maybe hit up HPF and see if they'll sell me one on it's own.

I need twin 2" inlets and single 3" outlet. I will just make some manner of merge collector if I have to, but this would be more user friendly. :cool

Any thoughts?

Cheers!

Check out Silicone intakes, Verocious motorsports? I would just call HPF and buy one or just ask if they could point you in the right direction. Good luck

Funny enough I am looking for exacly this one also. I did contact HPF and you could buy their 90° 3" to 2x2" coupler, it was just a bit out of my budget.

If you find it please post where, I will do the same.

I did find one down in Austrailia.. but shipping was a bummer..

FYI I sent these guys a message http://www.ebay.com/itm/330671306263?item=330671306263&viewitem=&sspagename=ADME:X:RTQ:MOTORS:1123&vxp=mtr (http://rover.ebay.com/rover/1/711-53200-19255-0/1?campid=5335818596&toolid=10001&mpre=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fitm%2F33067130626 3%3Fitem%3D330671306263%26amp%3Bviewitem%3D%26amp% 3Bsspagename%3DADME%3AX%3ARTQ%3AMOTORS%3A1123%26am p%3Bvxp%3Dmtr)

We can have the 3" to 2x 2" coupler made if we buy 20 pieces minimum :D

Here is the one down in Austrailia..

the aussie one looks good. more than your typical silicone boot but its a special piece after all.

Would do v-bands - its going to be a hassle if the silicone pops off

Do a merge collector with vbands, silicone the rest.

Alloy Y pipe and fixed with V-bands? not sure I understand excacly.

I'm redesignin the whole IC piping in my car. Plenium side is easy, turbo side is complicated because of the twins. But I have not had problems of the hoses blowing off after I bought better/longer hoses.

The blowing off on the turbo side was the reason I went to wiggins clamps. I had quality t-bolts and silicone couplers but would pop the hose right off the turbo under certain conditions. So irritating. Never again!

The same happined with my car in hard track driving, but once I put longer silicone hoses on the turbine housings it was ok.

However, Im getting welding equipment this month so who knows.. :)

yeah even with a proper bead on the pipe, the silicone will find a way to pop off. its only a matter of time.

my personal opinion is that the only place you should have a silicone coupler is if you're joining a part fixed to the motor with a part fixed to the body. so if you have an air flow meter mounted on the body, from there to the turbo inlet would be silicone. then from the turbo outlet to the intercooler and intercooler to charge pipe would be silicone as well. i'll typically add a coupler between the charge pipe and the throttle body, and between the turbo outlet and the pre-intercooler charge line; but that's mostly for ease of working on the car, allowing the charge pipes to come off if you need to work in that area.

this is all personal preference, but its proved an effective setup on my mazdas.

These are intercooler pipes, so they do need some flex. Some manner of wiggins clamps and a merge collector would do the job as well, I suppose. It's just money, after all....:help:lol

Vband would be too... unforgiving...

No - v-band just that spot. Silicone the rest. The problem is that you don't want stuff popping off near the hot turbos. If your silicones pop off at the intercooler or throttle body then whatevevr, but the hot turbos is a real drag especially since it's not easily accessible.

Eh you'd have to see where it is... v-bands are quite "tall" so the "legs" on the "Y" of the merge would need to be quite far apart for the v-bands to have the necessary clearance for assembly and that won't work as the pipes need to exit the engine bay in specific locations.

The two little IC pipes go up to the front bumper, the connection is not really near the turbos themselves. This connection is near the intercooler.

In fact, now that I think of it - I should probably just modify the intercooler end tank to have dual two inch inlets... lol.

Then get the accufab wiggins clamps

That would be an ide, but I think that any shop which could do this could also make you an alloy Y piece, single 3" to double 2" and maybe for less.

Nobody is making me anything - I fab everything myself so all options are on the table.

Cheap Stuff :D specially for us with two hairdryers. In my case the GT2252s are too small for these clamps.

But they look pretty good, solid craftmanship.:alright

Its a shame they don't seem to make 2" ones. My turbos are just tiny buggers! Lol.

Another option that looks promising are "hargett" clamps:

i've purchased a ton of stuff from them. always quick shipments. never dealt with their customer service but if its anything like their shipping efficiency it should be a good experience.

I still have not been able to find the one we need, except the one in Austrailia.. the price has dropped but shipping will be a killer. Totally do not understand why these are not more widely available..

The throttle body is basically the same as BMW's size wise...
