This thing is cool. I can use my phone to open it! I drive into my community then grab my phone and touch the app while I'm a few blocks away. When I turn the corner the garage door is open. Great if there is a lot of snow - doesn't slow my momentum.

Nice. Does it also still work with the built in remote buttons in your cars?

The garage door opener on my barn works all the way down on the road but the house one you have to be like 2/3 the way up the driveway for it to work. :(

Good juju. We just bought a house and I'm tryna figure out what I need to do about my opener. I started a thread and found out mine probably won't work. Our openers are gona be brand new on the house (we haven't closed yet). Anyhoo, what do I do? Get openers from a newer e38? Sorry if I jacked your thread.

^If I remember correctly the e38 came with two different types of openers. So all you need to do is get the newer type. The one with the lit numbers on the buttons.

Disclaimer - I'm not sponsoring a particular brand - there are a few others that do the same thing.

I bought the Craftsman model 139.30437 (sorry, that's how Sears does it.) because it had the gateway. The gateway is a part that plugs into your router at home. You register at the Sears website with your IP and download the app on your phone. Next thing you know you can open and close your garage door with your smartphone.

The other cool thing with the app is you can see if your garage door is closed or open and for how long.
