This is the post in the cl and it is going for $1900, what do you guys think?

-This engine is currently in a 1998 BMW M3 Automatic Convertible.
-The car has 194k miles on it is fully functional.
- The engine has been compression tested and has solid numbers across the board.
-No fluid leaks
- There is nothing wrong with the engine at all and the reason for selling is that I am going to part out the entire vehicle. The car it came from has a clean title with no accidents.
-The way I am selling this engine: It is the first piece of the car to be sold. The car it came from is fully functional so the potential buyer is welcome to come to my shop, start the car, listen to the engine, drive the car and once the engine is paid for, the engine will be taken out and ready for pick up and the rest of the car will be torn apart for parts. None of the parts will be sold until the engine is sold so please do not contact me about anything but the engine!

despite the 190k miles on it engine could be very good, but person who would pay you $1900 for it will have to gamble on it. He will be buying something that has no warranty, and people don't realy like to jump on something that has no warranty.

The way I sold both of my M20 engines out of E30 is I posted on CL that I am selling running engine, people who were interested came and test drove the car and seen for themself that engine is not overheating and that ir runs strong, gave me a deposit, I removed the engine the next day and they came picked it up.

If you remove that engine people simply won't believe you that is good running motor.

That's a shit ton miles, unless you plan on rebuilding I wouldn't do it

Oh you're selling, very well, that's an awesome way to do it

My question is, why is the owner parting out an M3 that seems to have no major problems? Wasn't wrecked, didn't blow the head, tranny obviously works if the car is "fully functional"

What a waste imo.

Maybe the autotragic put him into a state of depression....

unless you know seller then I wouldnt spend that much on an engine w/o performing the compression test yourself

Sorry I should have clarified, I am the buyer, this is the sellers post. Yeah I have been wanting to swap an m3 engine and this seemed like the right time for me since a tax return of good size (: haha. I haven't shopped around, but I just wanted to see since this was locally for sale you know? I would definitely want to see a compression test in front of me. Also would want to know why the part out since it is in perfect condition, but is it worth 1900 or what would that motor typically go for?

I think that is way too much for an S52 with that kind of mileage. I paid 3k shipped for an S52 w/ 85k mi and a 3 month warranty with leak down numbers and the vin the vehicle it came out of just to give you an example.

OP, having it come from an auto car is good though.

I have found a buyer for you: http://phoenix.craigslist.org/nph/wan/2802443440.html

Looking for a complete good running low time BMW S52 engine 1996-2000, preferrably from an automatic car. Must be able to hear run and test. Call 602-512-5212 with particulars and price. NO TEXT!

LOL! :lol

Let my try to understand this guy. He wants an S52 engine with low mileage, that he can hear run and then test? Which means you have a running 1997-1998 M3 and you are selling the engine or what? Why not just buy the whole car
