So my left side turn signal goes on and doesn't turn off, even if the car turns off, happens when using the left signal and pressing the hazards. If I press the hazard they both come on then the right goes off, stays off, and the left stays on solid. I noticed the left signal has more travel in the switch than the right is this normal? sometimes it will work normal or flash a few times then go solid, but most just goes solid. Any ideas on whether it's the signal switch, the relay, or maybe the hazard button?

This was happening previous to the cracked tail light.

Most likely the relay. Available for a few dollars on eBay.

I agree, if not the relay, it may be the turn sugnal switch. Good luck

More likely the relay.

Both turn signal and hazard switch send a fixed signal to the relay to activate.

It is the relay that is responsible for the clicking on and off.

Although there is a parking lamp feature on UK winkers but they shouldn't be responding to the hazards button.

don't the left and right share the same relay? If they do why would only the left side be affected and there is quite a bit more travel in the switch for the left than the right could this mean it is the switch or is that normal?

don't the left and right share the same relay? No they don't. Tecnhically it's a flasher module containing two relays (one for each side of the car), timers and a couple of other functions for the crash and hazards.

In the vehicle handbook it describes a second detent that is used to light one side of the vehicle when parked on an unlit road, which is a legal requirement in Germany.

Setting this mode usually requires pushing the turn stalk beyond the point where it feels like it is going to break.

You could experiment with this feature on the right side, to see if the switch is at fault and if it gives the same behaviour as the left side.

I said that in the third sentence I was just reiterating.

So you did, I missed it, slice of humble pie for me. :(

Probably the switch, does the left turn blink if you move it to 50% and also does the right turn go solid if you move it past the detent to parking lamp? If so switch.

Could just order one of each for a fiver from eBay and get it over and done with for the price of a couple of Lattes and a sticky cake.
