I need some ideas as to how much to ask for it. It is a 1999 740il with 170,000 miles. It has bent valves from broken timing chain guides. I replaced the chains, guides and all gaskets associated with the job only to find out that the valves are bent. The body is in good condition. The interior could use some work. All the electrical works. It will need to have the cylinder heads replaced. I have a set of cylinder heads with straight valves. I was going to put them in but I don't have time for it now. I will include them with the car. The windshield has a crack on the passenger side. It still passed inspection as it doesn't obstruct the driver's view. It will also need a passenger side headlight and a mass air flow sensor.
The car has the following options; Parking sensors, rear shades, front heated seats, navigation with dsp and xenon headlights.
Would it be better to put it on ebay? I was hoping to get somewhere close to $2,000 for it as is. I have heard that I could get that by parting it out. Unfortunately I don't have time for that. Otherwise I would fix it. I spent about $1,500 in parts alone.
Here is a link for pictures of the car to give you an idea. Thanks for your help. http://s1173.photobucket.com/albums/r583/diediaz/

If I can't sell it for a good price I may part it out. That wouldn't be until the summer though. If you still need them you can have first dibs.

Put it on craigslist bud you might be surprised what someone might pay you for it

I saw a 95 with 190k in my area with a blown engine for $2500, i called about 30 min after it was posted and the guy sold it already for full price!

Put in on craigslist for $2900 or best offer, and sit on it till your ready to part it out or fix it

Thanks for the advice. I already have it on Craigslist. I have it for 2,300 or best offer. I have gotten a few replies. Most of them offering $1,000 without even looking at the car to see what it is worth. I thought maybe I was asking too much. Maybe I just have to wait until the right buyer comes along.

Yeah wait it out until you absolutely need to get rid of it, who knows you might find some time to fix it ;)

Yeah, I think I used up all my "free time". I don't think my wife would like it if I did it again. I bought a wrecked 2000 740il last year. It has a good engine that I was going to put into the 99 but I changed my mind. I ended up rebuilding that one and replaced all the timing chains and guides while I was at it. I was going to take the body parts off the 99 but I didn't feel right taking apart such a beautiful car. The only things I took off were the headlight and maf sensor.
