Gentlemen,
I just want to introduce myself after lurking about for some time. I must say the quality of the fora here has increased a lot in the past 5 years!
about myself, I'm Dutch, 30 years old. I got my first E38 in 2002, it was a 1994 730i in Ascotgreen. Loved it, but many problems made me buy an E34 M5 (since I was spending so much on parts, I might as well buy an M-car!) \
But, after a while, we got a 2001 740i traded in, Orientblue with Saffran-yellow interior. Its more beige than yellow, but more yellow than the traditional Sandbeige. I had the car for a year, and bought a diesel E34 after that, keeping the M5 garaged.
However, my E38 blood still crawled to unlikely places and I found a very nice 740d V8 diesel in Denmark, with all ( I mean all) the options. Fax, steering wheel heating, massage seats etc. Very nice. I drove it for close to 20k miles in less than 6 months and sold it on again.
Then, my esteemed friend and businesspartner told me he had seen an L7 for sale. Being low on storage space, we kind of hoped it would be a bad , worn out car and having a good reason not to buy it. However, the car was in fantastic condition, first owner, chauffeur driven and completely unmarked. Even the engine bay was like new, and it drove like a dream despite the near 39 extra centimeters it has over a normal E38.
We still have the car and use it from time to time on special occasions.

cheers!
