I haven't heard many good things about the NASA HPDE format, but it was the only thing that was open that fits my schedule... hopefully I'll get plenty of safe track time :)

Awesome... hey.. who is "Pro-Imports"? as in who is posting ?

I still need to get back there to re-align my car to index the camber plates.... just been mega busy here :(

Hope you have a great and safe time as well! Be sure to catch the Salazar Racing E30 in the enduro!

Never been to a NASA event and I assume the HPDE is a driving school, instructors, passing in restricted areas with pointbys.
A couple years ago I recall hearing it was the wild west but they have become more structured in recent years. Personally I'm uncomfortable outside of a marque driving school. I prefer BMW, Audi or even a Porsche school. The one FATT I did I found lots of HP, little talent and big egos. A bad combination. I assume NASA has a wide variety of HP too. Then

again maybe it's just that I hate being passed all the time.

Well.... the format is the problem... they run races inbetween the DE sessions. So if something happens in the race, it cuts into your DE time.

Some people like the format because they get to watch some racing between their sessions.. but I believe I paid for a DE and I want to get at least close to my track time I paid for. One time, something happened on track and they had to just continue the races... when it was time for my track session, I got on track at 1052. After one warmup lap and two full laps, they threw the checkered flag. VIR has a rule where they can't run between 11AM - noon ... this happened the first time I ran w/ NASA, then I thought, hey, things happen. So I ran another event and the same crap happened. After that I got bitter :)

So now I run Car Guys, BMW, Audi... with my favorite being Audi. They run a very coordinated and organized event. Their instructors are top notch and they hold a charity banquet (your dinner is paid for).

Maybe NASA runs their events better now, I dont know... and I dont like to stereotype their events... so enjoy yourselves out there... VIR is fun and the facilities are top notch.
