I figured we all have had to check the local dealership for parts or service at some point. Lets see who can find the largest markup for parts and service.
Please list car and parts/service needed.
Mark up %=
(Dealership cost)-(Actual cost) = Mark Up
(Mark Up X 100)/(Actual Cost) = Mark Up %
Example for Parts:
New Belts for my 92 325is:
Dealership cost: $102.75
Actual Cost on Pelican Parts: $25.50
Mark Up:$77.25
Total Mark up: 302.94%!!!

yea i have noticed that allbeit still expensive the BMW is far cheaper to own/maintain than a volvo of the same era.
Before the E36 i owned a volvo s70 FWD turbo sedan(begining to mid last year), bought the car for $1300, over a 3mo period put close to $4,000 in repairs into it. My BMW so far i have $800 into it including the cost that i paid for the car($150), yes i traded my other vehicle(1995 Civic 4dr)+ $150 for it i got the civic for free so essentially i paid $150 for my BMW.
My e36 is on par with a civic as far as parts aval via internet retailers, however are slightly more in some area's and cheaper in others.
