I drive a 1998 318is sport e36 Coupe with 155xxx kilometres (I live in Aus) on the clock. I bought my car about 4 - 5 months ago, with 145xxx kilometres on it and about 2 - 3 months ago i've been having two anoyying issues.

1. My car on and off struggles to start! I've found it happens predominantly after i have filled up on fuel, and a few starts after that filling. I have always used 98 Premium Unleaded but i fill up at different stations all the time (so different types of 98). When i turn the key the car turns over fine but does it for 5 - 6 seconds before the car starts firing and she gets going after that it's fine and driving is as per usual. The last time this happened to me it took a bit longer, almost 10 seconds and i had to give it some gas to finally get it to go.

I've done some research and also been told that this could be any number of problems with the car because it could be an issue with either fuel, compression or spark. When i asked the mechanic to have a look he checked over the battery and that was fine.

2. When pulling out of parking spaces and my garage (in reverse) when the car is in motion it makes a large squeaking sound, as if something is not properly lubricated. At first i thought it was Power Steering but that is topped up. I've taken it to my mechanic who said i could potentially be a belt that is worn but he checked the belt and he said that it was fine.

--- Both problems happen on and off and i have been trying to get a recording of the sound they make when the issues appear.

ANY help or ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
