I tried calling Koni but they are closed for the holiday. Someone locally is selling a set of Koni STR.T shocks and struts that they purchased for their 318. I'd like to put them on a 328. I've checked-- the rears are the same part number but the fronts are one number off 8750 1011 for the 318 vs 8750 1010 for the 6 cylinder engines. Before buying, I want to make sure they willwork and am hoping the difference is in the dampening and not the design of the part. The car is a daily-- 93,000 miles on the original suspension, I am not looking for something track worthy, just a nice upgrade that prevents the car from bottoming out on bumps so if the dampening will be a little off, that won't be of concern.
Thanks and hello to my new E36 family.

Makes me curious what the difference would be. If the 318 shocks fit onto all the other E36 models, I don't see why it wouldn't work.

I'm guessing the dampening is slightly different due to the weight differences between a 4 and 6 cylinder. Thanks for the help.

You answered your own question.
Yeah the design is basically the same, you can interchange them between any non M. The difference will be the dampening in them although I think on the rears they would be slightly similar and on the fronts they would be different because of the weight difference between the 4 and 6 cylinder. The weight difference is somewhere around 80lbs between the 4 and 6.

The Koni STR.T are identical between the 318, 323, 325, and 328. There is no difference in valving. I own a set and they work fine.

If there's only an 80lb difference I'm not sure why Koni would bother changing the valving. I'm thinking it's something much more simple than that.

That idea clearly did not get entertained in my head. Good point.
