Hello eveyone one i hope you all had a wonderful holiday! I myself have a bit of a deliema... i replaced a engine in my 94 325i with another m50 out of the same year car. i had to swap over the engine harnesses and im unsure if everything is back where it is suppose to go.... all the connectors are plugged into something but i goto fire the engine up and have no crank at all. i replaced the starter with a known working unit and it still just ticks like a dead battery and the hazards start going off. im thought this car did not have ews... but it needs to be fininshed lol i have no car to drive. The batterry is fully charged and i have tryed my other brand new battery as well but only to get the same result. ANY suggestion welcome please guys im lost
Thanks
David

hazards going off and a ticking sound makes me think its battery related. That could be a bad connection at the battery or at some other place where you disconnected the harness.
It isn't EWS related. You only have EWSI.
Start at the battery and work forward. Clean the connections, check your fuseable links, Check the connections at the B post and fuse box, Check fuses (all of them).

that begs the question, is the starter turning over but not the motor? If not, is the motor turning over but not firing?

kampy... i dont believe either you would hear? see the engine spin over or hear the starter fire. i think flyfishvt has a good idea it may be a voltage issue or a poor connection but kammpy your right if the starter was actually spining then i would hear it so flywheel to starter is probably ok...

Your spelling and grammar make it very hard to understand your replies. The starter does not fire anything.
forget the flywheel. Your buddy doesn't know what he's talking about. However if the starter is turning and making a soft whhhrrrrr sound then your starter is not engaging the flywheel. That means the bendix on the starter is bad and the starter needs to be replaced. If you turn the key and hear nothing but a tick tick tick then the first place to start is the battery.

Forget the battery and flywheel.
The first thing you need to do is check for voltage at the starter when cranking the engine. If you have the proper voltage, your battery and connections are not the issue here.
Don't just assume it's a bad battery connection and spend a bunch of time on it. Check your voltage first.

thanks guys sorry about the grammer... meant to say the starter spins not fires but i will check voltage at starter first and go from there
