2010 or 2011 5 Series vs 3 Series

I want to find a good used one but can't decide if the 528 is that much better than a 3 sedan? Both require 97 octane? Both 28 MPG...or so. The 5 has better power to weight ratio? Which one would be better to keep 5 or 6 years for travel? Your thoughts?

Neither require 97 octane, not even sure were to get that without going race gas, both recommend 91 or higher. If you are planning longer trips, the 5 series should give you a smoother ride since it is bigger. Depending on which 3 series, the 3 should be the quicker and a more nimble car if you are more of a aggressive driver..lmo.

The 3 is not near as comfortable, because of the short wheel base and lighter weight. But, that's also what makes it sportier. It's just a matter of which you like better. Personally, I like the increased space and better manners of the 5er. :redspot
