Well today I learned that DDM tuning carries M3 style trim :D
I have got DS1 wheels on so I thought that it would be the perfect combo
a little motorsports theme :)
So I call them and ask if they have any in stock
and they respond they do
So I drive down to the Huntington Beach location to pick them up
It was cold inside, both the temperature and the overall atmosphere
I walk into this office and ask the guy if I could get a set and he responds back he doesnt think they have any in stock :confused
So I ask him to check for a sedan
and he responds back that they are going to stop carrying them
so I ask him casually, why is that? are they not selling?
To which he responds back, I cannot discuss those matters with you
so I am thinking, ok fine, shutup and get me my parts already and let me get out of here
so he comes back with the box and cut it open for me to inspect
Good to go
So he tells me the price of $96.XX, WTF
I know tax isnt that much
So I reply back that it should be like $80 something and I get this nasty look
I told him I was just looking at it on YOUR site and I know that price isnt correct
He responds back that they should have been removed off the website
umm they are still up
so he checks and tells me a price of $86.XX
ok perfect, so I grab the box and go to walk out of the office so I can pay the cashier
He responds back, the box stays here :confused
So as I am walking up to the cashier, he is yelling him the amount to charge me
I pay and walk back into the office so I can grab my box
I grab my box and leave
This was my first time shopping with them
I am definitely not going to be going out of my way to return to be shopping at DDM
they have got the wrong attitude and gave me the wrong price
how they conduct business at that location is just overall unprofessional
heres the trim I got that was supposed to be "removed off the website" :shifty

I went ahead and installed it this afternoon
the old trim came off pretty easy with a plastic prybar
I then cleaned the trim channel of all the built up grime and proceeded to install the new trim
everything snapped right into place
Well everything other than a single piece
the passenger front door is being a bitch :(
I line everything up and smack it into place just line all the other pieces and it isnt cooperating
I think I am going to try switching out all the clips and see if that fixes the issue
hopefully I can get that piece installed and it isnt too much trouble
That is my update today for my E36

Sounds like their face to face customer service sucks just as bad as their phone/online service. Not surprising.

I had never even heard of them before today
after a little reading it appears that customer service is where DDM Tuning really "shines" LOL

It's too bad, they used to be a fairly reputable company but when they started dropping their prices and got busy their customer service got $h!)(y. I wonder what's going to happen when I need a new bulb for my HIDs with their lifetime warranty?

I ordered a set of HID's from them, so I didn't have to deal with them directly. The lights worked perfect. No complaints.

I ordered an HID kit from them about two years ago. A few weeks after installing the kit, a ballast went out. I called them, they said it would be covered under warranty. All I had to do was pay EXPEDITED shipping BOTH ways. So I said screw that, since shipping would cost almost as much as I paid for the entire kit. I then asked if they would sell me a single ballast, figuring it couldn't cost more than $15 or $20 (if the entire kit is only $40). The rep told me I could purchase a single ballast, and the price would be...... $40.
F*** DDM with a rusty pitchfork.

I recently had a pretty sh*tty experience with the customer service in the hb shop as well. The guy who used to work there was always really accommodating, but whoever they have working the desk now is pretty damn rude.
Highlights from my trip: Upon entering I was asked very bluntly "What do you want?". Then I was repeatedly asked (in an irritated manner as if I were doing something wrong by being there) if I had received an email telling me to come in and get my stuff (fog lights and m3 bumper mesh) even though I told him from the start that I ordered over the phone the day before and was told they had both in stock there.
I then asked if they had any extra holding screws for their shift nob kit laying around that I could buy (I got mine from a friend and he didn't have the screws) and was told simply "No."
They brought me the bumper mesh with no install hardware, and when I asked if it came with the hardware (just 4 little speed nut style things) I was told again "No."
The environment in there now feels hostile and unwelcoming, which is unfortunate because before this incident I had nothing but good experiences there.

Speak with your wallets. Based on what I have read on here, I will NEVER buy from DDM.

Ddm used to be good some years ago. Sad to see it go down like this but jim had mentioned that he was going to venture into real estate instead of supplying directly from china. I've bought many things from them.
Now, I would never buy from bavtoys. I've seen some pretty bad comments from the owner himself when someone would make a thread complaining about something.

dont mean to sound racist but what type of people run the place? i'm asian and i deal with a lot of older generation of asians who are just plain rude, especially in the import/export business i'm in. so i've grown to accept it. that or most american run places are just really nice haha.

yeah, sounds like they're just plain rude or don't care. i would say my generation of asians (20-mid30s) should know customer service should be a high priority.

I would say this seems to be a consistent pattern based off the feedback others are giving of this location
I had never even heard of them before today other than they stocked the parts I wanted
I went in there completely unbiased
Its really not that difficult to get retail right
treat people how you wish to be treated and they should return

I only ever dealt with their "customer service" over the phone one time attempting to figure out when my HID kit was to ship after waiting a week and the status online still showing "processing". I called and the guy told me he "didn't know when it would ship" and then proceeded "maybe monday" and then pretty much hung up on me ... yep, not good customer service there.
Their shipping rates are horrible, their customer service is sketchy ... the prices of parts are good, but honestly it's better to go elsewhere.
btw, OP, go to your local dealer and get OEM clips ... you wouldn't be the first that can't get the moldings to stay in with their clips.

I actually went to the dealer today and picked up 2 clips=OUCH
even with "CCA Pricing" it was $4.50 for 2 clips
I am going to remove it and find a source for clips
I am thinking I am going to order online
I dont want to loose it so I would rather have it off

There's a DDM here in San Diego and I went down there for their headlights and fog lights and they were all pretty cool. There was this guy there that was completely stoned, he was like a zombie, but still pretty chill. I've never had problems with them. Probably just that location. I dont know about you guys but I would rather deal with an asshole than pay for shipping, my opinion.

BTW the best place to get cheap clips if you have some patience is www.ebay.co.uk

The people at their san diego location have always been pretty good. I used to do will call pickups from there before they had the HB shop.

Their reviews on yelp for the Huntington Beach location are pretty bad too, although a recent review says a new manager is trying to fix things:

Ebay is your friend. I stopped dealing with DDm (San Diego) shortly after Casey left. Bought an M3 bumper that came with no hardware for the mesh and the passenger side mounting bracket broke during installation :/ It's a 30 mile drive so that did not help either while dealing with their shit. They were probably paying $15 max for those bumpers from China. I want an HID kit and door moldings but rather play it safe and wait for a deal elsewhere.
