Harmon Kardon Stereo bug? R53

The front speakers in my '04 R53 cut in and out. Not a fade out or crackle, just all of a sudden no volume and then it will come back?

Help!!!

amp is going bad. also make sure there is no water in or around the amp. the amp is located in the right rear trunk area.

It's a common problem and replacement HK amps are getting rare and thus expensive. Also, the HK system is 2 ohm instead of 4 ohm, so finding a suitable aftermarket one is also expensive and difficult. I went to the audio district in downtown LA and was able to rip out and replace my entire system for about the same price as a new amp.
