I'll have some HIOPs for sale in a week or two w/o the sims, but there are a couple interested parties already. PM me if you want to get on the list. The sims can be purchased from AA for $150 I think.

I didn't know that HIOP made an OBD-II header. I have these on my car. I removed my air pump and I have NO CEL. if I run the scan tool, I get the common errors of no air pump but I have no CEL.
basically, you can buy the headers and not worry about the simulaters.

Or you can buy Evosport's ready fit headers for OBD2. They are a little pricey but Turner Motorsport stocks them and they did some dyno testing with them and the pick up some low end torque.

this is going OT but it's still productive:
did turner test other headers to compare the results?

Probaly not, they only usually test what they sell. when I wanted headers, I looked at them, that is how I got the info. they were just too short for my liking. So i bought the RMS OBD2 version headers, ceramacoted. Very expensive , but at least they look like headers.

Sorry, did not mean to go off topic, I did not realize what forum I was in. He WTB the HIOP's. I just read it as a header discussion.
My bad!!!
Proceed on.

No probem guys. Madhatter the hiops are all the same i believe. Guess it was kind of stupid to say OBD II, but you get the picture. Do you mind me asking where you picked up your set of headers from? I just purchased rogue pulleys and a track pipe. Do you think the addition of headers to the setup makes a big difference in power? Also, is that porsche brake kit you have on your car the same kits that Spencer has for sale?

I bought them from a group buy here on bf.c, I paid around $600-650 I think for the set.
when I bought the hiops, I had them sent to a machine shop to create the airpump inlet ports. got that done and then found it that it is waaaaaaaaaaay to hard to actual stick the plumbing in there. so the channels that I paid to have machined had to be welded shut. :az: trail and error is the only way I guess. :)
I also have the RE pulley set and the AA Crack pipe along with an RE DMS, Eurosport CAI and Ignition Solutions Plasma Coils among other performance mods.
The HIOP headers were the most recent performance mod to my motor. With the above mods the car drove great and wasn't lacking anything, I was very happy with the car's power. I had the HIOP's laying around so I threw them in and realized even more midrange power and when pushing the car past 5k under 3/4 - 4/4 throttle, there is a unique (read sweet sounding) whoosh coming from the passenger foot well (headers make sound? - COOL!). these aren't a miracle upgrade but I thought they were worth the money. basically, my results were a fatter midrange that comes in handy when I'm tooling around town or while in 5th gear at highway speeds. I don't bother to shift out of 5th when I want to pass someone on the highway so I was happy. :)
remember this though: bolt on upgrades start give diminishing returns when you start approaching the limits of the NA motors stock internals. ie - there is only so much power that can be realized from a stock block.
my car sounds a little like an E46 M3 with the track pipe when I get on the gas. 5k and up and it has a unique sound that some like and some are afraid of, I can't complain. :) The track pipe isn't for everyone, I purchased mine because my OBD-II M3 cats were shot and these were cheaper then buying new cats....now I gotta figure out how I'm going to pass inspection. :stickoutt
the brakes on my car are also from Rogue Engineering, it's their front and rear kit. this is a 996 C2 kit, well balanced and great pedal feel. a few people who drove my car were very impressed with how factory the kit feels. You can get a slightly different kit from ECIS as well. I do not know if RE carries my bbk since it was essentially a one off, I guess a phone call would answer that question.
Spencer's kit uses the older brembo 993 TT multipiece caliper and porsche rotors (with new hats) while my kit uses the newer brembo monoblock calipers with E46 Euro M3 front rotors and 750iL rear rotors. I am not familiar with the in's and out's of Spencer's kit, you may want to contact him directly about it.

99Estoril,
you're welcome. :) here's another one for ya, if you buy the headers, your current obd-II headers are an upgrade for ALL '95 and older 6 cylinder E36's. I ended up selling mine online for about $100. :)
