Adjusting Steering box? How?

Hi, I have been told that there is a nut that you can tighten or loosen to adjust your steering box. If this is so please tell me. The reason I ask is the one in my car has 1 1/2 to 2 inches of play. So if adjusting it does not work I am going to put in another one that has no play that I took out of the parts car I just got. I would rather be able to adjust then replace. I have already pulled the parts car one, but I would rather not have to use it if possible. I did look in the Bentley Manual, but it says nothing.

Check the nut on the steering column, it's hidden by the cover by the pedals. That will also cause play and sloppiness.
