Hi to all,

When you bought your 6 series were the tools complete in the tool compartment in the trunk? When I got mine the only tool I found was the open wrench no. 19 , a rod like guide use when your mounting a spare tire, the original Jack, the original tire wrench and the foam that holds spare headlight bulbs and fuses. Fortunately I was able to buy a complete set of original NOS tools for the E24 at my local BMW parts store for $100 back in 2002.

Mine was mostly complete.
I was missing the small green screwdriver the rag and 1 wrench.
Got the wrench but refuse to pay 50 bucks for a screwdriver I'll never use.
The cheap gray screwdriver works (or does'nt) just fine.

Mine also came with an original first aid kit.

Differs. Two complete sets with blue rags and one incomplete set that was only 30% complete with rusty tools. Ended up finding a super set on theBay and another set with red screwdrivers locally in my neighborhood. I've been really lucky with finding tools.

You guys are lucky. Looking at Porsche dude's tools it seems Im still missing one more ,its the tool for winding the window when the window motor fails. I think I still have the 1st aid kit .I think I found mine behind the back seat in the speaker pods.

All the 6ers I've picked up have had incomplete tool sets.

PorscheDude - I'm looking for a 8X10 and 12X13 MM ring spanner (slot 3 and 5 in Brucey's photo) and it looks like you've got both in the picture. For sale possibly? PM if interested.

Thanks - Mark

@PorscheDude. What are those Z shaped things near the pliers? And those grey things to the right of the Z things above the tow eyes?

As any of you guys know, or even may not, I deal in tools pretty heavily. I have a few complete sets, I have the blue rags which I have sourced and exactly as original, and I have the small plastic window emergency tool adaptors. $260 for a complete tool kit, $40 for a blue cloth and $25 for the window adaptor. I do have a mint set of tools, posted on here a few days back. Take a look at the picture as it is like new. I also have an un opened first aid kit, $100

Mine had nothing but the original jack. And once I removed it, it was unusable due to rust.

The contents of the tool kit seem to vary depending on the year. I have an 89, where can I find out exactly which tools my kit should have? Thanks

As a place to start, put your VIN number in at one of these sites and go to "71 Equipment Parts --> 71 05 Car Tool", but even that doesn't seem to show everything?

RealOEM.com, the original and I still find it the fastest to navigate if you are still on dialup:
http://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do?vin=&kind=P&series=E24&arch=1

BMWFans, more graphic, so slower for dialup, but if you click on the part number in the right hand column, it will show you all of the other cars the part was used on. Very handy for hunting at the salvage yard:

Incomplete, but I bought a full kit from a 6er with red drivers for about $100 off ebay about a year prior to the 6er purchase. Must have been meant to be...
