Hi what is this? I found it in the 535i 1990 that I am parting. I am guessing it is for the phone system but that is just a guess.

Looks like the phone system... This under the back seat?

Alarm brain for the basic one button keyless entry system. It's worth nothing, especially if you don't have a remote for it.

FYI the phone equipment is in the trunk

I had a Motorola unit under my rear seat for the phone system which looked quite similar.

As far as the remote locks... I've definitely got some things to figure out with that.

Looks like the later/3 button alpine alarm kit to me, the one button alarms have a squared white connector at the alarm box, not the green one.

Regardless, you can use the early/one button alarm box with the three button remotes, problem is just finding a chip set because it requires a matched chip in the alarm box and in the remote. BMW no longer sells the chip sets, some of the E31 guys had them available.

The later system can be programmed to use any 3 button remote.
