Some moron had a trailing full of his belongings, in the middle of a move, lost something on a trailer which backed up cars in front, then me, then the truck, then a brand new Camero... well it was brand new. Windshield wound up kissing the bumper. And all this was after i adjusted the valves and got her running just right.:(

Your insurance is going to total it right away. The right shop will be able to fix it however.
Get all of your receipts for expenses on the car lined up & find similar cars for sale on the market to prove the value on your car. The first thing your insurance company is going to do is low ball the heck out of you.

Sorry to hear about the car. That really sucks. Glad everyone is alright, though.
Maybe on the bright side, you'll get better than you hope for. In either event, good luck!

My thoughts exactly. We have them here, too... but more for deer. The deer here are twice the size they are in TX, though.
Good luck with it all, let us know the outcome. US bumpers collapsed as they should, but its unfortunate that the 1/4 panel is still kinked.

Ouch and how very unfortunate! It will be good as new once it is repaired. Would suggest you take it to a quality body shop. I does not take too much of an impact to crumple the rear quarter panel.

Sorry to hear. This reminds me of my car about a year ago. Although my impact was slightly harder, and also with some other truck device that was higher (bumper shocks having little to no effect there).
I'd say, collect what you can from insurance, and find a new car. Strip what you can from this one to make your new ride nicer.
Let her go...

It just sucks that i have put a LOT of time and effort to get her to this point. And now to have to contemplate doing this agian....:mad:(:eyecrazy.
We'll see how it goes.
The bright side would be to find one that I am not having to replace every single part.:) Clutch pedal starting going to floor on the way to church meeting this morning.:eyecrazy

why would his insurance be paying for it? The truck behind him is at fault for the damages.
Unfortunately it'll be a nightmare just to break even. Insurance is like banks, they always come out ahead with you losing..

Sorry, I worded it wrong. I shouldn't have said 'Your' in the beginning of my post.

The estimate is probably gonna run around $8k. The insurance will write it off unless you have vintage insurance with a higher appraisal.

This happened to my old e30. Same thing. It was the best thing that ever happened.... The car came out way sweeter than it was before- all new parts!

I am hoping for the best... but this car had been badly mistreated by several po's. Its worth is in the neighborhood of $1800. The only good parts on it are the ones i installed.
And the main caveat to this story is that the person that caused this... which i failed to mention... is that the individual with the trailer, took off and at this point is considered a "ghost" driver as per the officer.

Damn, looks like you'll be in the hunt for a new shark. I agree, Insurance will claim it a total lost. Perhaps you can purchase the car back being that it is able to drive? (I did so with a jeep i had and actually made money on it!).
Good luck!

the more i look at it; the more i think it is above the frame. Posted a pic to see if anyone can get me a pic of their open trunk. Here's hoping.

You'll have to get under and measure it side to side and across.
The suspension pickups are the most important.

Hope you get a good deal from the insurance company!

And then there is always the possibility of physical neck and back injury to use as part of the negotiation. let them make you whole on the car and you will indemnify them against you having any physical problems from being hit by their insured

+1
one year of rehab 2 times a week = $10k-$20k in your pocket. Just enough for a nice m635 to cure your back pain :D

$1700 check coming in the mail. I am looking to purchase and install http://www.kgsengineering.com/store/p/9622-1976-1989-BMW-6-Series-E24-ZR-S-Body-Kits.html skirt kit. I should be able to fix this myself. I am going to try to roll/press it first and then take out anything else.
All this being said... this may not happen till spring... its cold outside. Maybe if i can get that 325i out of the garage i would have room for my baby?
Then maybe find someone to paint cheaply.
