Question on plastic side skirts and clips

My 325 didn't have plastic side skirts so this is new for me. I have two of the clips that hold on the side skirts that are broken. I'm picking up a few new ones soon but I'm wondering if the side skirts push straight onto them or do you slide the side skirts on from one end like the trim piece just inside the door sill?

with my side skirts i found the easiest was to put the clips in the body first, then press the skirt on (take your time, from front to rear or vice versa), not fit the clips to the skirt then press the skirt on (one or 2 clips would just never go all the way in).
