New Car: Vehicle Status Message, service due since 36K miles

I bought a new 2011 535i about a month back and ever since I picked up the car I get a message when I start the car "Vehicle Service due since 36,000 miles". The car had less than 5 miles when I picked it up! Has anyone seen this or know what it is?

I'm not sure what's going on with these messages.

I have a thousand miles on mine and over the weekend I went from requiring service in 14,000 miles to 4,500.

Equally disturbing is mine (with 4600 miles on it) saying my service is due in 13,000 miles. Uh, yah - right. Over 17,000 miles until the FIRST oil change. Sorry, I'm not buying that, so in about 3,000 miles I'll change in myself.

I just looked into it more closely by checking the Vehicle status in idrive. It has two warning signs on; all which is very confusing.
A. Vehicle maintenance due since 36K miles. Please contact service center to set up appointment.
B. oil change due since 13K miles. Please contact service center to set up an appointment.

My car has a little more than 1100 miles.

I am going to the dealer to find out why and what is going on. Will keep the forum posted.
