Hi,
I'm fairly sure this issue was posted before but I only have several hours before picking up a new set of Style 37 rims. I need some answers QUICK, in the meantime I'll surf the forum for answers :eyecrazy

I'm able to buy a set of immitation Parallels now fitted on an E38. I already know the hub is different but I already found a company who is able to make the center hub larger so it will fit my E39 (540i Touring with air suspention).

Im curious if this set will fit my '01 540i Touring without fender problems (tires hitting the fender or sticking out of the fenders or setup beeing too small and in need of spacers).

The data:
Front: 8J, 5X120, 235/50/18 (Dunlop tires)
Rear: 9.5J, 5X120, 255/45/18 (Dunlop tires)

Any issues with the speedometer?

Thanks a lot!
Paul

When you say imitation I guess you mean reps? Most M Par reps were made with the larger hub size for the e39. That is something you will have to check though on yours. If not you can have them bored, or you can buy spacers/adapters to make them fit. either way you should have no problem rubbing as long as you have the correct tire, as the e38 utilizes a larger tire than the e39. Hope this helps, I personally have a set of oem 18" M Pars and a set of 19" M Par reps.

Sorry I did not read all the way through, those tire sizes are to big so you will rub.

Hi,
I did some calculations with an online tool:

My rims+tires now have a diameter of 65.39cm (225/55/R16).

Front 235/50/18 the diameter will be 69.22cm (=+ 3,83cm).
Rear 255/45/18 the diameter will be 68.67cm (=+3,28cm).

Correct me if I'm wrong but the total extra diameter/2=extra space in new setup.

If I look at pictures of my car (it's in the repairshop right now) I get the impression I have enough space left.

Any reactions on my thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks.
Paul

Go for it, I am pretty sure you will rub the strut, and if not that you will eat the inner fender when you turn.
