I didn't realize until my 335i failed inspection I was in need for some new(er) tries.

Since this is my first bimmer I'm reluctant to go with anything other than what was on it. ContiPro Contacts Touring All-Season's.

Two questions:

1. For all around tires - are these the most reasonable?
2. Anyone have experience buying "used" tires? I found 4 shipped w 9/32 or better tread for $85 x 4 shipped. Seems like a pretty good deal to me.

usually get what you pay for in tires. personally I stay away from the really cheap tires. I like Michelin, BFG, Bridgestone, Yokohama in the all seasons. Contis are not bad. They just aren't durable tires, but they're great in the wet and snow. I'm talking just about all seasons which last longer than summer only tires. I look for sidewall stiffness, resistance to hydroplaning, treadwear, and traction in that order. Read the tests and reviews on tirerack.

I got a pair of MXM4 michelins used for 60, they were much better than my used up Continental Sport Contacts, but they were warn pretty low. I would recommend those or the PS A/S Plus, esp if you can get them used. The Continental DW are supposed to be great, I also like the Sumitomo HTRIII.

Don't get V12s, after about 40% wear, the wet grip is gone, they also have a soft sidewall.

I hope to find some Supersports with good Tread when my 5 needs some tires, but I have at least 1/2 left and I have had the tires for about 2 years. They are the Sumitomos, I have a lot of confidence in them, but I know that there are a few out there that are grippier, ie PS2 or Supersports.

Is this a lease return or something? You have 2008 335i and your worried about tires? Get a solid set of winters and a solid set of summers and worry about your safety and the cars.....Check out tire rack....
