I've been keeping this car running extremely well for a long time now but I all of a sudden developed a problem yesterday when starting it up to drive home from work. I got in the car, hit the ignition, it started right up but was running rough as heck. I've had it do this several times over the years but this time it has now run like a cylinder isn't firing for two straight days now.

I ran the codes on it with the PEAK and I'm getting FE (254) EVAP large leak detected, EE (238)Misfire detected, Cyl #1, F1 (241) Misfire detected, Cyl #4, and 02 (2) (? maybe Ignition Coil, Cyl #4)

Is it possible there is a EVAP leak that is causing the misfiring or Cyl 1 & 2?

Or did I just happen to see the EVAP code because CYl 1 & 2 have misfired?

Can you post the exact codes? It is easier to help with them.

I am not familiar with these codes and just really confused. Any chance you have a OBD2 code reader. Just list them like P0123, P0234, etc.

Dano take a look here http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1738597

Gk

I decided to forget about the EVAP fault code and figure out it was running so bad. So I lifted the hood, removed the covers over the valve cover and intake. Pulled the locking clips up on all the coils then Started the motor.
I then started pulling the plugs off the ignition coils one at a time starting with #1. Each time I pulled one off I listened to hear if it made a differences in how the motor ran then I'd push it back on. When I pulled off number 1-3 the motor would run worse. When I pulled off number 4 the motor just kept ruining the same. Bingo. There's the problem! So I then pulled the coil out of number 3 and swept it with number 4. Repeated the process again and now the problem was at number 3. Called and drove over BAP Geon picked up a new coil came back installed it an now all is well.

Time elapsed from start of troubleshooting to motor fixed 1hr 10 mins. and $63.00.

Sweet!

Good to hear you got it figured out. Always good to do things that are free to see if they are issues.
