All it does in my 92 is kill power to the windows/sunroof...maybe a few other things. Pointless to me. You have it if your 325 has a rectangular switch to the right of the steering column.

The comfort relay helps keep the windows and sunroof alive after you switch off the ignition, so that you can close them, rather than have them immediately go dead. Some find that more comfortable, hence the name.

The comfort relay was used in 92 and 93 e36's. It gets fused power from the battery and sends it to the door locks, windows and sunroof and window switch lights. 92 and 93 cars had a ZVM module and a bunch of different control modules and relays that controlled everything. The comfort relay was one of these. In 94 BMW combined the ZVM and some of these modules and relays into the ZKE module.

The comfort relay has one wire comming into it and two wires going out. One goes straight to the sunroof control panel and the other goes to all the other items the comfort relay controls.
