I'm having EVEN MORE problems with my newly acquired 1995 325i.

I was driving at around 30MPH in the city, when it started to lose power. Then I would give it gas and it would make a pop noise. I pulled it over and shut it off. When I start it up it doesn't turn over. I can let it sit for a while and it will start but then idle really low and make popping noises then die again. It sounds like there's a problem with it coming from the exhaust, but I have no idea.

I need help or tricks to test parts ASAP!

Could be a vacuum leak under the hood. Check the IACV hose under the intake manifold.

Yup...start with a test for vac leaks and a compression test would be good too. Clean you MAF check your plugs run some injector cleaner. If you have a check engine light get the codes read.

There is a crack in the plastic tubing that goes from the black piece above the fan clutch to what looks like the alternator. Could that be the issue? I don't think so, but it's a pretty big crack.

sounds to me like you might have a rip in your intake boot between your maf and throttle body.

Just to update. Turned out to be my fuel pump.
