I thought the exhaust threads were press fit in the manifolds but then I heard that the studs in earlier e36 were threaded in. Mine is a 1993 325is. What should mine be?
Thanks, Kyle

I've had 92 & 94, both US and German build. Everything I've seen has been threaded no matter what.

I always found these studs to be threaded in.
You can find them on penskeparts.com or realoem.com.

I believe obd1 headers are threaded in.... opposed to obd2 headers, which are pressed in...

My 92 318 and 95 325 had threaded studs. I don't believe OBDII engines have pressed studs.

Threaded
Just did an OBD II exhaust gasket yesterday.

'94 325i are all threaded from the head to the down pipe, I don't know about the rest.

A quick search of RealOem or other part database is all that's needed to eliminate the misinformation and conjecture.
M50 engines OBD1 use a double threaded stud threaded into the manifold. The manifold does not have threads, the unthreaded shoulder is a press fit into the manifold flange:
Stud bolt M10X35 11621708999
M52 engines OBD2 use a shoulder bolt pressed into the manifold:
Hex bolt M10X40 11621427586
