:helpHello, my 1996 318i will not start when it has been sitting for a while. I have had to jump it 4 times this week. I know it is not an issue of power(battery, etc.). It has to be jumped because it will drain the battery when I trying to start it(battery is new). The fuel pump has been replaced. I checked the fuel pressure and it showed 40-45 when I turn the key over and when it gets started. I know I need to replace the ICV, based on idle issues and the CE light. The CE light also shows a Mass Air flow sensor problem. Will replacing the ICV help this problem? I feel that the problem is with the fuel injectors leaking off, but this is a guess. Some times there are no problems at all and then other times I just need to press on the gas pedal while turning the key and it starts. Does anyone know what the problem could be? http://images.bimmerforums.com/vb3images/buttons/edit.gif (http://forums.bimmerforums.com/forum/editpost.php?do=editpost&p=22997713)

Try cleaning the ICV before you replace it. They can get really gunked up.

The ICV has been cleaned twice, no difference.

Just a little more information… I have cleaned the Air flow sensor and the ICV twice. I am able to check engines codes and the two codes I get are P1140 and P0505. I have gotten these codes every time; they even come back on after a reset :(. The car will start great some times and other times it will need the extra help of pushing down on the gas pedal. Most recently the battery was starting to die because of the rough starts, and I would only drive the vehicle a couple of miles to work and it would sit for 12 hours. I had the battery sit on a charger and when the battery is at full power at least I don't have to jump it. Also, my ICV is up front and not underneath the intake. I cleaned this type, even though I did not know what I was doing because there is no DIY on this type of IACV (1996 bmw 318ic). Thanks for any help.

:confusedToday I pulled off the manifold and had the fuel injectors checked. They are in good condition so now I am left with the IACV and the MAS flow sensor has being the problem. If anyone else has any ideas please let me know. Thanks
