Do M3 coupes with auto exist? I've been browsing the classifieds and found a handful of coupes--not sedans or convertibles--that have automatic transmission. Are these simply just regular, automatic 3-series coupes that people have converted to M3s?

Thanks

For the 95 model year only

Awesome, now I realize all that I've seen have been '95s. Thanks for the reply :)

You'll see some later model sedans with it as well. I'm not sure if they made them in 97 and 98, though. If you poke around, you can usually get a deal on an auto, because they're typically on the market for a little longer.

+1 they made the sedans with them and you can find verts too in those late years

As previously stated only 95s. I had one for a few years before i converted it to a manual transmission. Not as quick, but still a fun car. The fanboys will show up and tell you youre an idiot for wanting an auto, but they've got manhood issues and small penises.

Just dont expect it to be much faster than a 325is. A mildly modded 325/328 with a manual transmission will give you a run for your money.

My auto sedan with 3.91s was just as quick as any 5sp m3 I ever found.

Oh, hell yeah. With a 3.91 rear, I bet.

Yeah i had 3.91s as well. Made a difference. But a stock m3 with a good driver would still do a number on an auto with gears. In general though it would be pretty even.

My sentiments exactly!

I prefer auto because my girl brain is slightly scared to drive a stick with that much power (I've only driven a manual 3000GT, non-VR4) I'm afraid I might royally screw something up with the transmission if I don't know how to shift perfectly.

Plus, I like eating french fries while driving for some reason... I believe that would hinder my ability to devote attention to shifting.

I have a 98 vert and 97 M3/4 both with the ZF 5spd auto transmission. Key to life of these transmission is changing the ATF every 40K miles or so.
Vert had well over 200K miles when the trans went and the sedan has only 85K miles and shifts like it did when new.

Yes if you have no wife/girlfriend a manual is fun or if you have a wife/ girlfriend that can drive a manual it is fun but reality for some of us is an auto.
Dinan makes a nice upgrade for your transmission which does help and TMS has a nice flash program (OBDII and chip OBDI) for pumping up the hp output...

I bought my sedan as purely a DD it was a great car. It had a taste for water pumps though.

Same reason i bought an auto. I lived in the middle of Omaha and while its not a huge city the traffic system and layout makes for shitty traffic. Once i moved to the outskirts a few years later i swapped it.

Made a great DD!
