Looking for a beater DD 318 E36

Found about 5 of these in need for under a grand. Trying to get a 1995 or newer with the simpler timing chain setup, any pointers E36ers? \

Objective is to source a moderately clean but primarily functioning car that has a working set of windows and roof and an auto transmission. Prefer M44 over M42.

You could find a 325 for that price...just fyi. (of course it all depends on your local market).

Just got home with it an hour ago! Runs on 2 MAYBE 3 cylinders? Made it up those Arkansas hills alright but I had to WOT a few times. The gauge cluster did something funky... all shut down for a sec and came back to where they were.... Neither window or sunroof is operational. no blower either leads me to the unloader relay but I haven't done more than sit and drink Sailor J and Coke since I've been home. Temp bauge was a little unstable but never crossed the half mark so I wasn't concerned. Thinkin of a MAf and COP kit from MIller for this one to increase efficiency and reliability. Not sure if the miss is fuel ignition or vacuum related yet, trying to focus on DD duty readiness first.

You just have to wait for the right deal. I see plenty of e36's in my city for sale for cheap. Shoot I'll be selling my 96 328is with m50 manifold and intake, fixed window motors, new stage 1 clutch and ltw flywheel, ghetto lip mod, new fogs, all reg maintenance(VCG, belts, fluids, new tranny mounts), set of e46 sport rims and a set of 18" manarays vr5 evos for $3k when I leave for deployment.
