I just read the thread on the 2001-2006 cooper buyers guide didn't see anything for an 2007-2010?or 2011 not sure what the change is.

Looking at an 07 cooper S with the JCW pkg 60K miles I know that's the first year for the major body design and the consumer reports show a few issues just in 07 but I wanted to know real world experience.

I also noticed the the engine was a little chattery when it was first started but im assuming it was just because it hadnt been started in 5-6 days(its at a dealership) is that normal?

My other choice is a 2006 S JCW pkg also with 88K miles that one drove good.
Only concerns with that one was it had a little pull under moderate/hard acceleration but I noticed tires were due and had a little pull also which I also attributed too tires.Console lid was broken and had a little bit of a slow start I expect the battery going flat perhaps from sitting.

Any advice would be much much appreciated

MINIs don't have the quietest engines, but a good thing to do would be to drive another 07 Cooper S to see how it compares. 2006 was the best year of the R53, but I really like the R56, I think I personally would prefer the 07.

06 r53 cooper s good car. On the 07 I would go with a newer r56 the 07 r56's have there bugs/issues. I work on minis on daily basis so you can ask me anything on the mini

well I went with the 2007 because I can really get comfortable in the 06 :(
I know one of the bugs your talking about. The timing chain tensioner? I think it is rattles early morn? other than that and getting used to the weird turning stalk
