My 88 318i stalls when i turn my steering wheel full lock left... any ideas why this would happen? (m40 engine, euro spec, right hand drive)

that's a puzzler, i'm going to say that i'd start with a quick look at any wires touching the steering column, but i would suspect the ignition switch.

Does it happen all of the time or just while idling?
My revs drop if I try to turn it full lock at idle, I always just figured the power steering pump was loading the engine. Never stalled, though.

nope, there are no wires touching the column :S
and it'll happen whenever, the only way to stop it is to raise the revs, and even then THAT only stops it stalling until i take my foot off the accelerator... If its still full lock left, it'll stall
Its very, very strange

The usual cause of this is an engine that isn't running right. Intake leaks, bad plugs, dirty injectors, etc., result in a loss of power and the additional load of the pump when at full lock stalls the engine. The pressure relief valve in the pump could be bad, but fix the engine first.

why do you have the car at full lock anyway?
Apart from being a diagnostic for a weak engine, it damages the power steering pump and belts, wears the track rod and control arm joints prematurely.
It sounds like you play with full lock on a stationary vehicle.

I already said why, when i am reversing out of my driveway.

Im not quite sure how you got "play with full lock on a stationary vehicle" from "reversing out of driveway", because they happen to sound nothing alike.
