M5 type trunk lip spoiler ??

Nothing came up in the search , I bought one and set it on the trunk lid and it extends across the gap and over the quarters , did I get the wrong one or am I supposed to shorten it ?

Of course it is already painted :help

It's a matter of preference. Some folks like it extending. Those who don't buy the e46 spoiler (comes just short of the gap). I wouldn't cut it.

Thanks , I guess what made me ask is when doing a search on something else I came across a rear pic of an E36 with the narrower spoiler. Guess I'll use it for now , if I don't like it it will come off fairly easily being taped on .
