how did you guys get the front top spring mounts to line up with the springs, i cant seem to get the indent on the spring mount to line up with the end of the spring

The spring mount rotates. You did do new upper mounts right?

with H&R races they are so short there is no tension on the shock, so when it is mounted correctly to the strut housing, the top mount doesnt even touch the spring, the spring is like an inch to short to create any tension, it has nothing to do with the bearings/mounts

it'll drop in the right spot when you lower the car down on it's wheels.
If you're worried about it, you might want to watch it and rotate the spring into the right spot as you lower the car.

I got it to work, lowered it down real slow and just twisted it into place....question tho
it would appear that if i hit a big enough bump/hole or something to extend the suspension past that spring travel that something might get all @#$%^% up?!?!

When the NorCal SpecE30 guys run Thunderhill clockwise they frequently get airborne over T5. I haven't ever heard of any issues with unseated springs.
In the Southeast we jump T3 at Road Atlanta pretty hard and haven't had any problems either.
Don't worry about it.
