The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is the largest and most involved automotive event in the Pittsburgh area (or entire state... or entire Mid-Atlantic region?). They offer an entire week of events, with the main event being the International Car Show and In-Park vintage car racing (one of the only races of it's kind to be run on closed public city streets!). The show takes place on the Schenley Park Golf Course, and is separated by make/origin of vehicle.

This year, we (Allegheny Chapter CCA) hosted the BMW section. The BMW Hill is separated into series. We hosted the 2011 5erFest this year, as well as the regular festivities (catered lunch, biergarten provided by Spaten/Franziskaner, awards, giveaways, etc.) Yes, you read it correctly; We had all-you-can-drink beer which was included in the purchase of your registration for the show. (Can't guarantee this will happen again, but I'm sure none of us would complain. :buttrock)

Since no one else is likely to inform you on this site, and most likely won't find out through the CCA, unless they announce it someplace... they might. For the 2012 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, we are hosting "Sharks in the Park." Each year, there is a specific model highlighted as the "featured BMW." So for 2012, I hope to see all of you E24 owners present for this... You won't want to miss it. A week full of events (HPDE's, banquets, etc), and a weekend full of car shows, racing, and non-stop BMW-related bullshitting up on "German Hill." All proceeds benefit the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley school... so at least the money is going to a good cause.

Early notice... but it should give you plenty of time to mark your calendars.

Dates and list of events are listed on the bar at the left-hand side here:

Thanks for posting this. Couldn't make it last time but I'll certainly try for 2012 with my Shark.

Zach, thanks for posting this info. The Allegheny Chapter will be posting more specifics after the first of the year. For now, there will be a scenic drive, followed by a reception on Friday July 20. The Sharks will be parked on the front row with the best view of the vintage racing on Saturday and Sunday. We had a great turnout for 5er Fest, and are looking forward to showcasing our beautiful Sharks.

FYI - the photo section of the chapter website (www.alleghenybmwcca.org (http://www.alleghenybmwcca.org)) has photos for 2011 Sharkfest. Suabby, you can find several photos of your M6!

Look forward to seeing you in July!

I'm CONTEMPLATING (not quite committed yet) the drive to PVGP from Chicago - early Thursday AM departure. Anyone interested in hooking up along the way to roll together?? We can have mini Chicago Sharkfest in Pittsburgh!
