The Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix is the largest and most involved automotive event in the Pittsburgh area (or entire state... or entire Mid-Atlantic region?). They offer an entire week of events, with the main event being the International Car Show and In-Park vintage car racing (one of the only races of it's kind to be run on closed public city streets!). The show takes place on the Schenley Park Golf Course, and is separated by make/origin of vehicle.
This year, we (Allegheny Chapter CCA) hosted the BMW section. The BMW Hill is separated into series. We hosted the 2011 5erFest this year, as well as the regular festivities (catered lunch, biergarten provided by Spaten/Franziskaner, awards, giveaways, etc.) Yes, you read it correctly; We had all-you-can-drink beer which was included in the purchase of your registration for the show. (Can't guarantee this will happen again, but I'm sure none of us would complain. :buttrock)
Since no one else is likely to inform you on this site, and most likely won't find out through the CCA, unless they announce it someplace... they might. For the 2012 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix, we are hosting "Sharks in the Park." Each year, there is a specific model highlighted as the "featured BMW." So for 2012, I hope to see all of you E24 owners present for this... You won't want to miss it. A week full of events (HPDE's, banquets, etc), and a weekend full of car shows, racing, and non-stop BMW-related bullshitting up on "German Hill." All proceeds benefit the Autism Society of Pittsburgh and the Allegheny Valley school... so at least the money is going to a good cause.
Early notice... but it should give you plenty of time to mark your calendars.
Dates and list of events are listed on the bar at the left-hand side here:
