Hi All,
I'm having a problem with the car memory with DIS.
I can connect and encode my car (2001 E39 M5) no problem
My friends 2002 E46 330d however is a different story (M57 diesel, production code ER92, 2.9 engine, steptronic transmission)
I can connect to it fine, run diagnostics, clear errors etc.
I can go into car memory, connect to the car, set all the changes i want, hit program car and it gets to the point where it wants the ignition on and off again.
Well i've tried ignition on/off quickly, slowly, 20 second gaps, 10 second gaps, i've tried stopping Ifhsrv32.exe in between, i've tried restarting the diag head emulator, etc etc but it just keeps coming back with 'turn igntion on and off and then press yes'
Any ideas?
I'm on DIS version V44, with Ifhsrv32.exe and the diag head emulator, whether i need it or not, all running through VM ware 6 on a Acer D250 netbook, on Windows XP. INPA interface.

Also, at the moment in VM ware the DIS screen is too big for the Netbooks small, wide aspect angle screen and i have to select some thing in VMware, then come to windows, scroll down and then go back to VMware to confirm.
Is there anyway in VMWare or DIS it reduce the screen size so it will fit the aspect ratio of the netbook? I can't find anything obvious in the VMware settings

Thanks
Matt

Press ctrl, alt and enter, then the screen will optimise. You can do all you need with sss progman, and if i remember correctly,if your car has been programmed with progman before, dis won't work.I'm sure some more knowledgable soul will put us right.

Thanks very much, i'll try out that screen resolution tip.

I very much doubt this car has been progman'ed, so i'm reluctant to install a whole new program and learn how it works for just this one task.

Anyone help with the connectivity issue?

Thanks

Me thinks perhaps you should try without the emulator to start with.I have read that it's not needed.

Why are you using a diaghead emulator? The problem is likely to be related to the type of interface you are using - if it emulates rather than detecting an ignition signal, the software will always see the ignition as being on, regardless of the ignition key position.

Thanks, i'm not sure why i was using the emulator, i'm not a big user of DIS, coming back to it after long periods of inactivity, so i couldn't remember if i needed it or not.

Will try again without the emulator and report back

Thanks for all help

Matt, remember that for the system to work without the emulator you need
the translator to be set to Fister and processes configured so that vm is set to off (not run). I realise that you will already have disabled firewalls.
