View Full Version : Window motor/regulator question

My back driverside window stopped going up and down, so I tried the back switch, and even tried 2 known good switches and nothing.

I picked up another motor/regulator and before I put it in, I decided to see if it was possible to (from the used replacement) unbolt the motor part from the crank part and thinking rather than taking the current (nonworking) one out I could just unbolt the motor from it.

However after unbolting the motor from the replacement to see how it worked, I cant bolt it back to the crankpart, cant get it to wind around the crank, lots of grease and whatnot and if I use the thing from the toolkit to tighten/loosen the crank i can get it to move a tiny bit up or down on the threaded part, but nothing past that, i'm wondering if it needs power to move and if I can plug it into the car and just hold it together and press the window up/down button and it will come together and i can put the bolts back.

Anyone done this before? or was this a stupid idea and I've ruined the replacement? lol

see pic for the part I'm talking about, the part I unbolted is in the red circle.
