I just replaced my valve cover gasket. The key to being able to do this job I could not find online or in the Bentley manual. The key is to remove the upper ducting that channels the air from the cabin air filters. You obviously remove the filters and the housing that holds them in place. Beyond that there is an insulated hard plastic piece that extends the length of the firewall. It is only 4 bolts. Two on each side. You also have to take out 2 bolts that secure coolant hose clamps. These bolts run through this cowling. If you don't remove this piece you will break the eccentric cam sensors ( I did), and you will never get the covers back on. With this piece off you will save yourself hours of frustration.

A DIY would been great, there is nothing out there for the v8, at least I haven't been able to find one from all my searches..
