Hey guys...I used to be on this forum 5 days a week for hours about 5 years ago. Even took a Bimmerfest drive with some of you guys to So CaL. Just have no clue what my user name was and password. So anyways im back. Have a question for all you gear heads. http://s1.e46fanatics.com/forum/images/smilies/worshippy.gif
2004 BMW 325ci 5speed Manual
So I was on the way to work and decided to get on it. When trying to go from 2nd to 3rd it wouldn't go in. I decided to left off the gas. I then noticed that the shifter was stuck in the neutral position but the car was still in second.
This is what it does.
When you look at the shifter it looks as if it is in neutral. Now when you try to move it, it doesn't move. Now I know when it is in neutral normally it will move all the way left to right in the middle. But all it does now is move about 2 inch to the right when playing with it. Now the car will stop and go in 2nd with no problem. Clutch works and sounds normal. I jacked up the car and took at look at the linkage. Have worked on hundreds of cars but never a BMW transmission. On the linkage before it goes into the transmission there is a piece with a oring that is connected to the linkage. Wondering what it does and why isn't it in the transmission. (picture attached) Now if this has nothing to do with it then what we thinking guys?http://s1.e46fanatics.com/forum/images/smilies/thinkerg.gif
