So im a car guy. I restore some for fun and dd's. I decide to try this "copart" cause Ill drive a salvage title car for a dd. I see one in FL. Go to bid and get error, "you must hire a broker" uh really? for a parts car that definatly has frame damage? Ok what ever, there is a 7 day free registration for a one time purchase, $150 a year after that, and they charge a couple hundred if I win. ok what ever. Oh they need a $400 deposit, uh this is getting risky and complicated. AND I come to find out Copart gets a purchase fee of a couple hundred, a internet fee, and a fee to bring the car to the gate "gate fee", ok I get it this is a riduculous game of getting more money. So I plan to spend a lower amount to counter the surcharges, watch a car for weeks, make my bid, (you cannot live bid so make your top bid at least an hour before live auction".
I am the top bidder yeah! I wait for my email invioce and what do I get instead? a counter offer from copart of $850 more than my bid. WTF? At this point im ready to say screw it, kept my offer the same, and I am waiting to hear back. The nerve to call this process an auction. Ill be lucky I they dont keep my deposit, cause I think im done with them.
Well I am hoping to get answers today from them. My trial membership ends early next week so copart has to tighten up.
Well my original bid was accepted. Confused as to why all this runaround. The fees totaled about half of what I bid for the car.
