Hey guys I've got a question about the 535i flywheel.

My car is in need of a throwout bearing and at 145K miles I'm just going to have the clutch replaced as cheap insurance.

The problem is if the flywheel is bad that puts the price of fixing my car way over "reasonable". (it's in pretty rough looking condition)

How strong are the 535 flywheels and can they be resurfaced if they aren't that bad? My car needs to be 100% done and driveable by early Friday morning so the work would be done on Thursday. I would be Overnight shipping all of the parts from pelican parts.

Btw my clutch makes the common clunk noise when shutting it off and does not feel weird at all when using it.

Thanks for the help!

Oh the rarely discussed topic of dual mass flywheels on the M30....

Dual mass flywheels cannot be resurfaced, only replaced. Once a dual mass unit starts making noise, it can probably go on living life for quite some time. You can replace the flywheel with a one piece unit from a e28 and use a clutch kit from a e28 535/M5 or e34 M5.
