Key cylinder just keeps turning?

This is the second day of owning my 3 series.

I turned the key at the gas station and it just kept spinning!

After a few rotations it seemed to be back to normal, but I'm worried that it might happen again and not catch!

Is this common?

Haha, I wish that my cylinder had broken rather than the plastic actuating piece. That was a pain in the ass :mad Thank god I don't have EWS

Looks like a screw in the bottom should fix it though right?
