I'm working on rebuilding my injectors (Mr. Injector kit). I read up on the process of removing the injectors and it said to pull the FPR and run the car until it quit. Mine ran for more than two minutes before I got concerned that the engine compartment was going to get too hot to work in. Is this normal?
In other news - I hate it when I turn out to be my own worst enemy. :mad Went on to pull the injectors and dropped one of the electrical clip wires into the engine bay and one of the injector clips in after it. Lost.

why are you redoing your injectors?

It should only run for a few seconds. Maybe a minute tops. You must have pulled the wrong relay. Try pulling the fuel pump fuse. Same result as pulling the relay.

I'm trying to track down an intermittent stumble I have. I'm doing the cheap/easy things first. If this doesn't do it, I may have to surrender and take it to a shop.
The cost was only $25. Bought a rebuild kit from Mr. Injector. Came with new o-rings, spacer-washer, filters, and pintle caps. Except for the fuel issue (which was just messy and unpleasant) it only took me about an hour and a half.

Is it not this purple one?

That should be the one. Pull the fuse. It's quicker

Thanks. That's the one I pulled last night...
What'dya suppose it means when it is out and the car still runs?

Think of your fuel pump like a fountain pump....you know the ones that spray water in the air....if you kill the power to one of those the water stops.....same with Gasoline and your car fuel pump. If your is under the back seat like mine just remove the back seat (takes 30 seconds) and pull the plug on the fuel pump....I assure your car will stop running in a few seconds

Did you completely remove the relay or did you just pull it out from it's holder a little?

Nothing pisses me off more than when I drop small parts or tools into the engine bay. It seems like more than half the time it doesn't make it all the way through ... and half the time you search for it you never find it. There is a 5mm socket riding around somewhere between the firewall and my transmission. I bet I spent close to an hour looking for it from above and below. Then it was cheaper to buy a whole new 1/4" socket set than the individual socket. :mad
I was really paranoid about those wire bails on the injectors flinging themselves into oblivion. I never did figure out a really good way of getting them off. Did you find yours?

Hmm. I wonder if I could make any money with this?

Pulled it out and put it on my work bench.

No. I thought maybe this morning I'd find at least one in the garage, or in the driveway somewhere. Fortunately I'm on a first-name basis with the BMW parts manager in town. I haven't been there in almost a week anyway.

Lol ... done that before. I've wondered what my neighbors think if they see me walking up and down the drive staring intently at the pavement. :D The last gasp hope that it will shake out after you move! I think I've found something like that maybe one time! :lol
