Everyone in the NC area, I will be visiting family in NC the last week of September (26th - 30th).
I wanted to gauge the interest for an NC meet. I have added a poll for everyone to vote on which day is best.
My family is in the Mooresville, NC area (30 min north of Charlotte), but the meet can be anywhere within a reasonable distance.
Please suggest locations/dates/times.
Thanks,
Mike

Sounds like it could be fun, but I won't be able to make it as it is. I'm coming to Charlotte on the 30th though, go figure.

At this point, any day but Monday works well for me. I just picked Tuesday. As with my semi-disastrous "Mini-Oktoberfest" last fall, any non-weekend meets are probably going to be sparsely-attended.
Would prefer a meeting place in the Winston-Salem area, if it's not too inconvenient. The two-hour round trip to Hickory last fall was hard on the fam (yep).
:)

I am okay with the Winston-Salem area, that is only an hour from where I will be staying.

Yeah, after work is best. Like around 7:30 or so. Don't let me constrain the timing, though--if you guys want to meet earlier, I'll just pop in later when I can get away.
Matt, since this meet is in your city, you should pick the place.
Missed this. Hmm, let's see. Foothills Brewery and Mellow Mushroom are pretty nice, but downtown so parking sucks. There's a Moe's just off the highway with awesome parking for a lineup. There's a personal fave of mine Greek restaurant (Athena) with a decent parking lot. What kind of food are we wanting?

Yea, we can make it around 6 PM and if people cannot make it until later, they show up when they show up. It can be earlier if others prefer, just let me know.
I am okay with almost any place, I would just prefer that the place isn't some chain that I can get in Erie, so I would rather not do Moe's. We did the Mellow Mushroom, which was good, last year. That is an option.
Matt, tell me about the Foothills Brewery and Athena. I have never had Greek food before. Well, Greek dogs and Greek burgers don't really count.

Here's Foothills:
http://www.foothillsbrewing.com/
I guess parking isn't that bad, especially on a Tuesday night. It's just a couple of turns of Business I40, too. That'd probably be the way to go. Mellow Mushroom is the exact same distance from the parking lot, too, if we have a last minute change of heart.

Winston-Salem "traffic" isn't really traffic in the Atlanta / D.C. / L.A. sense. The speed limit on business I40 through downtown is 45 mph; rush hour means most people go, like, 20 mph. So it's not gridlock. Still, if you want to avoid the slowdown, 5-5:30 p.m. is probably the worst time.

In related news, I'm not surprised you're looking around. Your E34 has been killing you lately.

I will be at the meet with my E34, no question about that. I am looking forward to it.
The car has been killing me lately, though. First the gas tank and then the driver's door bowden cable. Now the water pump (found when fixing the driver's door).
The pump isn't even leaking or making noise, but the fan is loose, it moves back and forth if you move it with you hand. The mechanic says that means the bearings are worn and it is only a matter of time before it fails and sends the fan though the radiator (his words, not mine).

My bad! I misread your post. Cool that it'll make it. :cool
Not even leaking or making noise? That's some hardcore preventative maintenance right there. I'd have maybe bought a spare and waited for the existing one to show signs of failure, but good on you for preempting it. :)

Perhaps part of it is my fault. I told the mechanic I was going on a 2,000 mile road trip and to inspect the car for me.
I would not want to be in the hills of West Virgina with no BMW shop around and the water pump goes pop.
